Enrollment and permanence

a) Rights related to enrollment

The status of student is given to those selected by any of UNAM’s admission procedure who have also met all the administrative requirements and formalities.

Postgraduate students have the right to enroll after fulfilling the requirements of the corresponding curricula and after receiving the acceptance letter given by the academic committee.

b) Legitimation and representation for enrollment formalities

University students may enroll in person, through their parents/tutors or through a representative.

c) Right to a record of subjects and credentials​

After concluding the registration formalities, students have the right to receive an academic transcript. Students also have the right to an ID that identifies them as UNAM’s students.

d) Right to re-enrollment

Students may enroll only two times in each subject, if they do not exceed the maximum possible time to be enrolled as a student.

Right to re-enrollment also belongs to students that suspended their studies but decided to continue with them.

The previous statements are also applicable for students of open and distance university systems.

The decision for the re-enrollment of post-graduate students that suspended their studies will be made by the appropriate academic committee.

e) Permanence in the University with student status​

Students have the right to be considered university students for as long as they remain enrolled, within the time that the University Legislation establishes as the maximum possible term for the culmination of each curriculum.

f) Suspension of university studies

Students have the right to suspend their studies.

g) Admission pass

UNAM’s middle school and high school students can be admitted, without participating in the admission contest, in high school and university courses, respectively, if they meet the requirements of articles 8 and 9 of the General Regulation for Enrollment, through the procedure named “admission pass”.

h) Simultaneous careers, second career and career or campus shift

College students can enroll themselves in a second career right after receiving the degree of the first one, be enrolled in two at the same time or request a career or campus shift.

Students that shift careers need to consider that students enrolled in any college course can renounce their registration to request their enrollment to any different course via the selection contest.
