Academic evaluation and subject accreditation

a) Right to be evaluated

Students that registered and took any subject have the right to be evaluated.

b) Right to ordinary exam or exams

If students were not exempted from ordinary exams throughout the duration of the courses, they have the right to both periods of ordinary exams (1st and 2nd rounds), provided they are registered and actually attended the subject (the latter does not apply for postgraduate students). In case of obtaining a passing grade in the first exam, the grade becomes definitive.

c) Right to extraordinary exams

All students (except postgraduate students) have the right to pass subjects via extraordinary exams in the following cases:

  • When a subject has been registered and attended to but not accredited.
  • When a student enrolled in the same subject twice without passing and can’t enroll in it again.
  • When students choose to, without previously enrolling in the subject or attending classes.
  • When the maximum time for being an enrolled student has finished.

d) Right to rectification of final grades in case of errors

If any final grade were wrong, students have the right to ask for a rectification of it. To achieve this, students must fulfill the requirements established in article 7 of the General Regulation for Enrollment:

  • A written request must be submitted to the corresponding faculty or school within 60 days of the date in which the grade was published;
  • The teacher or teachers that signed the report card must state in writing the existence of the error to the faculty or school;
  • The school or faculty Director must approve the rectification; and
  • The school’s Direction must communicate the rectification in writing to the corresponding School’s Administrative Coordination.

e) Right to final grade revisions

Students can request exam revisions within 60 days of the date in which the final grade was published. The Director of the school or faculty must designate a commission to address these situations, preferably formed by two titular teachers of the exam’s subject. This commission must come to a decision in no more than 15 days.
